Barbados had always had cases of parahumans, beings possessing beyond human abilities, but these cases were sparse and oftentimes dismissed as stories. However, in the wake of the event dubbed “The Awakening”, parahuman activity began to emerge en masse and the stories could no longer be ignored. The increase in chaos on a super powered level leads to the formation of the parahuman team The Alliance. Things take a dark turn when the members of the Alliance are murdered and evidence of a parahuman serial killer on the island comes to light. This is when G.R.A.I.L, a covert government agency, joins with the Barbados government to form The Barbados Coat Of Arms (B.C.A.O), a special branch of office to oversee parahuman matters. The B.C.A.O recruits a parahuman by the name of Paradigm to lead a new group of gifted individuals to be Barbados’ newest champions in the form of The Allegiance.
